History of Malibu coconut liqueur starts on the wonderful Caribbean island of Barbados, which is located in the south-eastern part of the West Indies, where the tropical nature remains clean and untouched for today. Malibu is made at the oldest, in the West Indies, factory West Indian Rum Distillery in Black Rock village. At that place a white rum was invented in 1893. Liqueur is based on clean barbados rum according to old recipes, enhanced by modern technology. High quality Rum Barbados is the perfect basis for adding an exotic coconut filler, which is the unique individuality of refined Malibu. Production begins with the mixing fresh cane molasses, pure spring water and selected yeasts. Then the beverage passes triple distillation in specially designed, for this distillation, columns. Purified by traditional technology, rum becomes soft, natural and light. After distillation, the rum is aged in oak barrels for 1 or 2 years. The cooking process is completed when the rum is mixed with natural coconut flavors and high quality sugar.
